We aim to provide landscape services in
Halifax and the surrounding area to extend indoor living areas
outdoors, providing a functional, sustainable and aesthetic space
for your activities.
How can you - and your property - benefit
from landscape design?
Increase your property value.
Property development and the real estate market in general are
booming as Halifax’s population is steadily increasing. This
is evident by increasing property values and a growing housing market.
Presently there is demand for landscape design due to the recent
trend of beautifying the home grounds. A link between improving
a property’s landscape features with a result of increased
home value is becoming more apparent.
Less power consumption means lower bills.
Professional landscaping can reduce utility bills and conserve
energy. During cold winter months, the goal is to block the winter
wind with trees and shrubs while capturing the winter sun. During
the hot summer days, the goal is to block the heat of the sun while
channeling the summer breezes. One large tree can absorb as much
heat as several window air conditioners and can lower temperatures
noticably. Air-conditioners run much less in a house shaded by trees
than they do in a house with a sunbaked roof and walls.
In a windy site, a windbreak or shelterbelt planting can account
for up to 50 percent wind reduction with a 20 to 40 percent reduction
in heating fuel consumption. In a calmer spot, wind barriers can
still reduce fuel use by 10 percent or more. Evergreen conifers
(needle-leaf trees) are a perfect barrier to winter winds.
Improve the Environment and your health.
Trees moderate urban "heat islands' created by extensive paved
areas. Lawns cool a home at the same rate as a one-ton air conditioner.
Lawns also trap dust, absorb noise, and provide outdoor living areas
for children and adults.
One tree removes 26 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air every
year and releases about 13 pounds of oxygen-enough for a family
of four on a daily basis.
Plants reduce noise pollution up to 50 percent. Plants also control
runoff and erosion, allowing soil to absorb water; Decreased runoff
means less urban flooding and ground erosion. Plants provide food
and habitat for wildlife, which contributes to biodiversity and
a healthier environment.
